Stephanie Downey

Stephanie originally qualified as a Registered General Nurse and worked in Cambridge and London specialising in A&E. She has a Masters degree in Medical Anthropology.
After studying acupuncture for 3 years at the International College of Oriental Medicine, East Grinstead and graduating in 1985, Stephanie set up the Brighton Acupuncture Clinic and has been practising acupuncture in Brighton since then.
Over the past 30 years Stephanie has undertaken many post graduate training courses continually updating her knowledge and specialising in a number of different areas, particularly:
Paediatric acupuncture – she has been treating babies and children at the Dolphin Clinic Children’s charity for over 25 years until its recent closure in September 2020.
Acupuncture for fertility and pregnancy, particularly in the treatment of unexplained infertility using natural approaches. She specialises in IVF support and all conditions of pregnancy, pre and post natal care and is a steering group member of ACT (Acupuncture Childbirth Team, Brighton and Sussex) www.actbrighton.org.uk
Stephanie has studied with Dr Tan using his famous ‘Balance Method’ for quick and effective results treating all kinds of painful conditions. Much of her additional training has been focused on the treatment of musculo-skeletal trauma and sports injuries.
She is especially interested in how acupuncture can be used to help people with cancer, to provide physical and emotional support during and after surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
She also has many years experience of working with all kinds of emotional and stress related conditions including anxiety and depression.
